Your privacy, in plain English

Effective 23 August 2026

This policy covers the ForeAi mobile app (iPhone, Android and Wear OS) and the foreai.co.za website. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run golf days and coach your game. We never sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising or tracking. The app has no login or user accounts — a random device identifier stands in for an account.

What the app collects during a golf day

When you join or run a golf day, the app sends a few things to our server so live scoring and the live course map work across everyone's phones:

• Your name — the display name you enter, shown on the tee sheet and leaderboard.
• Your golf handicap and hole scores — so the live standings are accurate.
• A player ID and device ID — so your scores attach to the right person across devices. The device ID is not an advertising identifier.
• Your GPS position, only while you're in a live event — so your team shows on the organiser's live course map and so shots you log from the watch attach to the right spot. This is optional: it's shared only when you've joined an event and allowed location. Outside an event, nothing about your location leaves the phone.

Sensors used on your device

• Location / GPS — used on your device for distances to the green and the direction to the pin. During a live event it's also sent to the server as above; the rest of the time it stays on the phone. The on-course survey tool saves coordinates on your phone, shared only if you export them.
• Microphone — used only to detect the sound of your ball strike for automatic shot logging. The audio is analysed live on the device and is never recorded, saved, or uploaded.
• Camera — the Swing Coach frames your swing live on the device. Nothing is recorded, saved, or uploaded.
• Motion sensors — detect your swing for tempo feedback and shot logging, on the device.

Subscriptions

ForeAi Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription (monthly or annual). Payment is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never see your card details, and we do not use any third-party billing service. When you subscribe or restore a purchase, the app simply asks the store whether your subscription is active and unlocks Pro on that device; your purchase records stay with Apple or Google. See Apple's privacy policy and Google's.

What the website collects

If you register a team, hole or prize on foreai.co.za, we collect the details you type into the form — typically a contact name, email address, phone number and your team or sponsor information — so the organisers can arrange the golf day and contact you about it. We use it only for that purpose.

How it's stored

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored on our hosting providers' servers (the app backend and the foreai.co.za host), kept only as long as needed to run the event and the app. You can ask us to see or delete your data at any time — just email us, or an organiser can remove you from an event.

No tracking

There are no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking tools in the app. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Children

The apps are rated for general audiences and are not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update this page and the effective date above.
